How to start the quest Plagues of Sorrowful Fate
The quest will begin as soon as you repair the Golden Paths, thereby completing the previous quest "Stairway to the Capitol". Discuss the plan of action with Scylla and go to the Golden Palace.
Walkthrough of the quest Plagues of Sorrowful Fate in Genshin Impact
Once you've dealt with the Golden Paths, play a symphony with Scylla. After this, you will have to fight with Boethius, which consists of several stages, and perform the final harp playing, which completes the quest.
Release ichor to link waterways
Sail to Capitol Hill to the helm and weaken the defense of the castle gates. Talk to Scylla: he will ask you to perform a symphony that can open the gates and enter the palace.
Perform a symphony with Scylla
After talking with the vishap, swim along the golden paths and play a melody that will help you get to the palace. You cannot pause the game, nor can you control the character: he will automatically swim through all the rings and perform a symphony.
During the process, you will have to independently activate the notes several times by pressing Space, but don’t worry if you miss - the task will not fail, and the Traveler will continue to follow the paths until he reaches the gate. Once you get to the palace and listen to a short dialogue, you will receive achievement “Late Successor”.
Continue onward
After talking with Paimon, go up the stairs, further along the corridor: along the way, pick up Hydroculus and interact with the viewpoint.
Before entering the hall, take into the squad Character Geo, or any two-hander - they will come in handy a little later, for the boss fight.
Defeat Boethius
Listen to a short dialogue and fight the boss. To defeat Boethius faster, follow these tips:
- Use Geo attacks or a hero with a two-handed weapon to destroy the enemy's shield.
- If you didn’t take a Geo character into your squad, then destroy the resonators that will periodically appear on the battlefield - this way you can quickly weaken Boethius.
- When the boss is in the center of the room, surrounded by resonators, break them as quickly as possible to prevent a powerful attack.
As soon as you remove Boethius' Geo Shield, Cassiodorus will intervene - he will pierce the enemy with his own weapon. Continue the fight until the next cutscene starts.
This time, defeat Boethius or Cassiodorus to rescue Fontaine and put an end to Phobos' plans. The enemy will be paralyzed, so the battle will not be a problem.
Watch another cut-scene in which the stone golems finally finish off Boethius and talk to Cassiodorus: he will ask to play the Requiem to rest his soul, and free the body of Ossie the cat from his spirit.
Climb to the top floor of the golden palace
To get to the top floor of the golden palace, go to the center of the arena and activate the elevator. As you rise, take Hydroculus - it will be behind the character’s back, on the opposite side of the harp.
Start playing the harp
When you get to the top, go to the podium, discuss what happened with Scylla and play the harp: just press Space in time, as when traveling along the Golden Paths. If you miss the moment, the scene will return to the last note - the number of attempts is unlimited.
For playing the sixth symphony, “A Time of Tears,” you will receive 20 Primogems, 20 Mora, and Ascension Materials from the Autoharmonic Music Box.
Return to Petrichor
After execution, swim to the surface, talk to Scylla and complete the quest. You will earn money immediately "Ode to Harmony" achievement and a new profile avatar.
Achievement Late Successor in Genshin Impact
The achievement “Late Successor” is unlocked by fulfilling the condition “His wish must be granted by you” - play a symphony near the Golden Paths with Scylla to get the achievement, and do not forget to pick up 5 source stones in the Wonders of the World section.
Achieving Ode of Harmony in Genshin Impact
When you complete the “Odes of Harmony” quest chain, you will earn the achievement of the same name — “Odes of Harmony.” It gives 10 primogems in the Rhapsody of the Ancient Sea section.
