Lost Grimoires in Genshin Impact - a type of riddle in the Dilapidated Castle that can be opened as soon as you complete the quest on Petrichor and get to the location under the Nosta district. In the ruins you will have to find several floating books, catch them using a new ability and deliver them to the necessary shelves to open passages to treasures.

What are Lost Grimoires and Mysterious Bookshelves for in Genshin Impact?

The activity to find the Lost Grimoires will open as soon as you get to the Dilapidated Castle and receive The power of an ancient symphony, having completed the task "Shadow over Petrichor". Go to the underground part of the Nostoy area and start searching.

If you immediately explore the location, you will find that most of the treasures are hidden by a mysterious bookshelf with a magical barrier. To get to these areas, you will have to find the Lost Grimoires nearby.

The item looks like a flying book with a musical note symbol above it. Before catching her, activate the Power of the Ancient Symphony by pressing "T", or by clicking on the icon in the lower right corner.

Then walk up to the book and when the ability glows golden, quickly press "E" to release short resting sound wave and make the grimoire freeze in the air.

The item will turn red and if you get close to it, you will get it Pick up. The lost grimoire will appear in the Inventory, in the section "Exercise".

When you find the cabinet with the magical barrier, interact with it to put the book in place, and long press "E" with the power of the ancient symphony activated to release long sound wave of motion and unlock the entrance to the treasure room.

Where to find all the Lost Grimoires in Genshin Impact and return them to the Mysterious Bookshelves

You can find the Lost Grimoires in the Dilapidated Castle area. Total of them 8 pieces, and the same number of mysterious shelves with floating books and treasures behind them. Follow the map to find all the books and quickly find where to return the Lost Grimoire.

Lost Grimoire #1

Once you complete the initial quest with Ossie the cat, you will immediately notice where to find the Lost Grimoire. If you've already left the area, return to the western underground teleporter and head east through the pile of floating books. Go to the stairs and turn left - there you will find the first Lost Grimoire.

Next to it there is a mysterious shelf on which you can immediately place the found book. Behind the barrier you will find a rich chest and Hydroculus.

Lost Grimoire #2

Go up the stairs from the first grimoire you found and you will see another one at the end of the corridor.

Pick it up and move to the western teleport, from where move through the stack of flying books to the east. Immediately behind it you will find a magical barrier on the left wall, where you need to place the found item.

In the room you will find a precious chest guarded by a Praetorian. To defeat the enemy faster, take a two-hander or a character with Geo attacks into your squad - this will make it easier to destroy the enemy’s shield and immobilize him.

Lost Grimoire #3

Return to the place where you found the second book and turn the camera towards the bridge with the blue carpet. Move along it, turn right near the second staircase and go down, straight to the third Lost Grimoire.

On the contrary, if you turn the camera to the north, you will see the next mysterious shelf. Behind it is a rich chest, and in the drawers on the left is a container with 10 mora.

Lost Grimoire #4

As you emerge from behind the magical barrier, go to the edge of the balcony and turn the camera to the left: a little lower, by the stairs near the pool, the fourth Lost Grimoire is flying.

Return to the bridge and stand at the place where you found the second book so that the corridor with the teleporter is on the right. A little to the left you will see a staircase leading up: go up all the way and you will find the next shelf.

Another stone golem awaits inside: defeat it and take the amazing chest and container with pestilence on the left balcony.

Go a little further to the cliff and jump over it: there is Radiant Crystal 127 on the ground.

Lost Grimoire #5

Return to the bridge and this time move to the southern part of it, into the corridor with flying books.

From the room with the hostile Praetorian and the rich chest, go left into the large library room - there you will find the fifth Lost Grimoire.

Here is the next mysterious bookshelf, and behind it is an amazing chest and a room with three stone golems. Two will attack immediately, and the third will join the battle when you defeat one of them. After the victory, take the precious chest and the Blank for a two-handed sword of the central lands, which lies on the pedestal in the room on the right.

Lost Grimoire #6

Go to the library and go upstairs. Move to the farthest corner, ignoring the crystal, and you will see a place where you can get the Lost Grimoire.

Next to it is a magical shelf, and behind it is a rich chest.

Lost Grimoire #7

Return to the crystal on the top floor of the library and hit it once. Several water platforms will appear, with which you can climb to the very top of the room.

There, activate another crystal and rise higher using the Hydro Ring that appears.

At the very top you will find the Lost Grimoire and another magical shelf, behind which there is a precious chest and Hydroculus. Among the treasures is also the 2nd Fragment of the Lost Score.

Lost Grimoire #8

To catch the final Lost Grimoire, return to the western teleporter and turn right just as you pass through the floating books. Go down the stairs and you will find a mini-challenge with rings that you need to go through in order.

At the end of the challenge you will receive a rich chest, and to the left of it you will notice the eighth Lost Grimoire.

Return to the library where you found the fifth, sixth and seventh books, and go up to the second floor. On the way to the crystal there is the last mysterious shelf, behind which is hidden a rich chest, and inside it is the 1st Fragment of the Lost Score.

How to get the achievement I Ask You If You Are Human

Pick up a grimoire for the first time by catching any of the floating books in the Dilapidated Castle to get the achievement "I ask you if you are human" and 5 source stones, which can be picked up in the Wonders of the World section.

How to get the achievement For the Love of Books

Using the grimoire, activate all the mysterious bookshelves in the Dilapidated Castle to earn another achievement - "For the love of books". Don't forget to pick up 5 more source stones in the Wonders of the World section for this achievement.

Rewards

Since activity with books is not part of any task, there are no separate rewards for it. However, in the process you can find quite a few chests with primogems, mora, resources and Hydro Seals, as well as several Hydrocules and lost scores. In the process, you will earn several achievements and take additional source stones for them.
