Shadow over Petrichor in Genshin Impact is a side quest that can be started as soon as you reach Petrichor Island. In the process, you will have to find out the reason for the strange behavior of the inhabitants and find a magic music box, which will be needed to explore the underwater ruins.

How to start the quest Shadow over Petrichor
The task starts as soon as you arrive in the Nostoy District, in the village of Petrichor. Approach the characters who are dressed as adventurers and talk to them. After a detailed story about what the heroes are doing on the pier, defeat the robbers and examine the nearby boxes for treasure.
Walkthrough of the quest Shadow over Petrichor
After the battle, a small cut-scene will start in which the traveler, examining the ancient statue, will be immersed in the memories of the ruler of the people made of brass and will hear a prophecy about the flooding of the ancient city. During the task you will have to find ruins, find a talking cat and get a magic music box.
Examine the chest containing the “treasure”
When you defeat the robbers, the traveler will offer to inspect the boxes for treasure. Inside there are ordinary stones, but when examining the nearest statue, the hero will be transported to the memories of an ancient ruler. It will become clear that something strange is happening on the island.
Search ruins in the mountains
Travel to Petrichor and talk to the mysterious man in the main square to learn more about the events taking place. It is not clear why all the residents of the city behave as if they were hypnotized, but you can solve the mystery by following the cat in search of the ruins.
Before you find the talking cat, defeat the animated statue guarding the entrance to the ruins. The enemy has a Geo shield, so take a character in advance who can destroy him, otherwise the battle will drag on: any two-handed weapon will do, as well as a hero with the Geo element. As soon as you destroy the enemy’s defense, he will fall without strength and can be quickly finished off.
After the battle, talk to the talking cat - he will tell you details about what is happening and remove the magic seal from the underwater tunnel through which you can get to the ancient city. A new item will appear in the inventory, in the Quests tab - Ancient score. It will be possible to decipher it during the mission.
Don't forget to pick up exquisite chest at the place where the stone guard was defeated.
Follow the Dilapidated Castle Underwater
Dive into the abyss with Ossie by jumping into a pond from which a talking cat has removed a magical seal. When you find yourself at the bottom, swim into the stream and go to Dilapidated castle under the water.
All missed areas can be explored later: be sure to activate the teleportation point before leaving the ruins.
Get a wonderful music box
When you find the Dilapidated Castle, talk to the cat and play a melody on the instrument - select the first one, called Fertile lands, it will play automatically. The Miraculous Music Box is used to harness the power of an ancient symphony - release different types of sound waves to slow down or resume the movement of certain objects. Go to Petrichor, the underwater ruins, and use it there.
Ancient autoharmonic music box will appear in the inventory, in the Quests tab, and after receiving it the next quest will open "Underwater Nocturne".
Achievement Tenth Muse in Genshin Impact
When you complete the quest “Shadow over Petrichor” and master the power of the symphony, you will earn the achievement by receiving the music box "Tenth Muse". Don't forget to pick up 10 Primogems from the Wonders of the World section for it.
