The past of the hero from the summit in Genshin Impact is a world quest that came from the Rift. The traveler meets a self-proclaimed student of the Guhua School of Martial Arts, who possesses a dangerous item. They must uncover details about the jade pendant, find Old Man Chou, and dig holes in search of treasure.
How to Start a Hero's Past from the Top
Complete the quest "Investigating the Rift" to spawn the NPC. Reach the top of Cinnabar Cliff, where you'll meet Tang Wuchou. The easiest way to reach the Archon Statue is by using elemental boosters.
Talk to him, then pick three qingxin flowers nearby. The Knight of the Emerald Jade will express extreme displeasure and a brawl will begin.
If you don't find an NPC upon arrival , it means you haven't yet completed the preceding quest, "Investigating the Rift." Complete the quest and return; the required character should appear.
Collecting the flowers before completing "Exploring the Rift" will prevent you from accessing the mission with Tang Wuchou. You'll then have to wait about three real-world days and then climb the cliff again.

Defeat Tang Wuchou
Defeating the character isn't difficult, but his martial arts are far from perfect. After the fight, a dialogue will open in which Tang Wuchou will offer to exchange the jade pendant for a precious stone. Deceive him and hand over the chicken egg.
The NPC will agree and provide the mysterious pendant received from Old Chow. Paimon will offer to check if he is still selling elemental jewelry, endangering the common people.
At this stage, the Flower of Contemplation, one of six legendary gifts, appears in your Inventory. This item is required for the "Thousand-Year Rocks" quest.
Dig up Old Chow's gifts
To continue the mission, glide below the cliff. To the southeast, towards Tiangong Gorge, you will find Old Chow. Start a conversation with him. As compensation for Tang Wuchou for the malicious pendant, the eccentric merchant will offer to dig up other treasures to his left.
Some of the holes contain hidden explosives. If one is found, the man will joke that the game is over, but he won't stop the Traveler.
You can dig all the holes, or skip the search— there's a bag of treasure buried in the fourth hole in the center row . Approach Chow and talk to him. The merchant will ask you to deliver the treasure to the self-proclaimed Tang Wuchow.
Return to the cliff, tell everything to the knight and return the ugly jewels. In response, the NPC will tell you about the secret of the charlatan. This completes the quest.
Rewards
Upon completion, you'll receive the Jack of All Trades achievement and the following reward:
- 30 source stones;
- 250 adventure points;
- 30 mora;
- 3 books of hero experience.
If you return to Old Chow and play again, you can unlock the "Ta-Dam! We Have Another Winner!" achievement and new chests.
