Where the Soul Stone Came From in Genshin Impact is the final quest in the "Records of a Journey into the Rift" storyline. During the quest, the Traveler must cleanse a corrupted mechanism, fight a Rift boss, and meet with an unknown benefactor.

After completing the previous quest A Threat in the Dark, you will be able to talk to Zhi Qiong and start the quest Where the Soul Stone Is Here.

Return to camp with Zhi Qiong

After a short conversation, Zhi Qiong will ask the Traveler to continue the conversation on the way to the exploration camp. To reach it, continue up the path until you see the Light-Bearing Crystal . After collecting it, turn left and continue to the teleportation point.

Go to the gate that Zhi Qiong was talking about

Once you arrive at the camp, you'll have the opportunity to speak with Zhi Qiong again. She'll start by sharing another map, revealing the penultimate area of the Rift, the Glowing Passages.

During the conversation, the cartographer and the Khedive, a scholar from Sumeru, will suggest that the Special Magic Cube is the key to the large stone gate. The conversation ends after Zhi Qiong invites the Traveler to meet at the gate she discovered. In the Inventory, the Special Magic Cube will be replaced with the Key to the Stone Hall.

To find Zhi Qiong, go a little further along the path that led to the camp. Activate three stone flowers to blow up the wall blocking the way down. Carefully descend into the passage, dodging the protruding rocks. At the very bottom of the abyss is the dark knight Ronet.

After defeating the enemy, continue along the path until you reach Zamaran's giant glowing mushroom. You can speak with him, which will lead to the side quest " An Extinguished Mushroom Seeks Help ." The Traveler's objective lies a little further on.

Along the way, don't forget to pick up another Light-Bearing Crystal . To the left of the main path leading to the main quest, you'll find giant roots, one of which contains the resource.

Once you've completed the Great Mushroom Land area, your path will be blocked by a Geovishap, followed by the mage Electro Tsitsinov, who is involved in another side quest, " Lost in a Foreign Land ." From where you met Fatui, follow the path to the left. Zhi Qiong is already waiting there.

Talk to Zhi Qiong and open the gate

Dialogue with Zhi Qiong is activated as soon as you get to the gate. The cartographer will volunteer to accompany the hero, however, due to poor health, she will have to go back to the camp. After the conversation, activate the mechanism to the left of the door, insert the key in the Inventory into it and watch a short cutscene. Behind the gate is a long corridor along which you have to go.

Pass through the gate and continue exploring

At the very beginning of the mine is Fatui's tent and a travel journal. From it, you'll learn that the crystal is corrupted by dark energy, making it impossible to use. The tent also contains Light-bearing ore , necessary for upgrading the Adjuvant.

Following the quest marker, you will come across several Geo slimes and another dark knight Caenri'ah Rethel. After defeating them, the path further will be cleared. Purify the crystal

After the cutscene, the final section of the Rift map and a new stage of the quest will open. To find the mechanisms, follow the energy streams leading from the crystal. There are five mechanisms in total, but the principle for cleansing them is the same. Using the light of the Adjuvant, you must imbue each one with energy.

Descend onto the stone bridge near the teleportation point and cross it to the other side of the hall; a stream of energy will indicate your direction. The mechanism is guarded by a single Abyssal Electromage.

From the first device, head towards the crystal and descend onto another stone bridge . Fly across to its other section. Open the teleportation point: to the right of it is the second mechanism, guarded by the Herald of the Abyss.

From the newly discovered waypoint, head down , following the energy flow. It will lead to the third device, which must first be cleared of black mud. Afterward, three Void Hounds will appear.

Return to the teleporter next to the stele. Follow the flow upward , towards the first mechanism. The dirt near the fourth device, guarded by Pyro and Hydro Void Mages , will constantly regenerate. Adjuvant energy can be replenished at the nearby monument.

From the fourth mechanism, fly towards the crystal. Behind it, you'll see the final stream leading downwards . The final device is guarded by just two Void Mages : Cryo and Electro. Black mud will spawn periodically during the battle.

Strike the purified crystal

After cleaning all the mechanisms, head to the crystal. At the task point, a cutscene will start, after which you will have to fight with the mechanical snake Haftvad.

Defeat the monster in the depths of the Rift

It's recommended to prepare for the boss fight in advance. Due to the large area of effect attacks and powerful physical damage, it's essential to have at least one Geo character or a good healer in your party. The Serpent is resistant to physical attacks , so use elemental skills and ultimate abilities to deal more damage.

Use the Luminous Stone Adjuvant tool to clean the dirt around the edges of the arena and thus weaken the boss.

It is not necessary to defeat the enemy , it is enough to reduce his HP to about 10 percent, after which a cutscene will start in which a mysterious stranger will help the Traveler defeat the boss.

Speak to Zhi Qiong at the Geoscience Camp and return to Mu Ning on the surface

After defeating the snake and a short dialogue with Zhi Qiong, you can go up to the surface of the Rift and talk to Mu Ning in the camp to complete the quest.
